Higher Education

Within a 60-mile radius of the City of Roanoke, there are 25 higher education institutions, including two-year community colleges and four-year public and private institutions. Collectively, these institutions enroll approximately 87,000 undergraduate, 15,300 graduate, and 1,700 professional students representing a wide range of fields including medicine, engineering, sciences, biotechnology, and information technology.

Roanoke Higher Education Center

Located in downtown Roanoke and featuring over 200 programs of study, The Roanoke Higher Education Center provides job training, undergraduate, and graduate programs from a number of institutes of higher learning, including Averett University, Bluefield College, James Madison University, Hollins University, Mary Baldwin College, Old Dominion Univeristy, Radford University, Roanoke College, The University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Virginia Western Community College, as well as job training programs from TAP-This Valley Works.  The Higher Education Center also provides event space for workshops, special meetings, and conferences.
